Introduction to Necrovision E-mail
Monday, 02 July 2007

Some of the people involved in the development of Painkiller The Farm 51 have recently announced they are working on a World War I FPS horror named NecroVision for the PC and XBOX 360, and signed by Cenega. Essentially, your character, an American who joins the British Army, battles the forces of darkness in a gaming environment which is graphically realised by 'enhanced Painkiller technology'.

For those in the know, Painkiller is set in an amazingly realised world with incredibly detailed textures and realism, where the player is able to explore virtually every part of each level - including climbing walls, getting onto roofs, using the game's unique physics to manipulate the environment in many different ways etc. Anything which uses an enhanced version of this technology is going to be worth looking at.

Screenshots from the game and a plot summary can be found here. The initial press release (in PDF format) is worth looking at and is available here

For those of you who would like to read a more personal account, soak up the detailed descriptions given in this interview with The Farm 51's designers and artists Kamil Bilczynski and Wojciech Pazdur. They discuss how the game will be structured, the different types of gameplay, the real-time physics and much more.

Interestingly, the game is initially intended as a single player experience - no multiplayer elements have been considered.

Some great screenshots can be viewed here

I can't wait Cool
