JoWood - Overdose
Saturday, 07 July 2007

After additional researches it's not clear if any PK-Product will be published under the JoWood Brand. It's possible that PK is still published by Dreamcatcher in the future.

Now something about why Overdose won't be free. We got this information from a presentation for the Annual General Meeting of the JoWood Group. In this pdf file Overdose is named twice (that file is available in German only because JoWood is an Austrian Publisher):

"Im Geschäftsjahr 2007 werden die Add-Ons (Zusatzprodukte) für die Top Brands aus dem Jahr 2006 veröffentlicht, wie z.B. SpellForce 2 – Dragon Storm, Die Gilde 2 – Seeräuber der Hanse, oder Painkiller – Overdose."

Here JoWood speaks of an Overdose release in the "Financial Year 2007".

And the second time in the LineUp 07

"2007 – Line Up

– Sam & Max / Q3 2007
– Life Signs / Q3 2007
– „Agatha Christie - And Then There Were None“ Q4 2007
– „Agatha Christie - Evil Under The Sun“ Q4 2007
– Painkiller Overdose Q4 2007
– Söldner II – Mercenary Wars Q4 2007"

We are not sure if Overdose had been planned as community mod at all, or if Mindware Studios had commercial exploitation in mind in the first place, but maybe the future will shed some light on this mystery!

You can download the pdf file directly from JoWood here (German only)!

Overdose not for free!
Friday, 06 July 2007

Previous reports had suggested that the so-called 'community mod' Project Overdose was an official addon which is a 'must buy'! According to an official source (which we will disclose later), we now know that Jowood extended it's 'Core-Brands' with the addon this year! The official addon to Painkiller is therefore named "Painkiller-Overdose"! We assumed that Overdose would be published under the Jowood label, but this is not certain. Painkiller 2 will be (we think so ;) ) published through Jowood, because Jowood will be responsible for the Core-Brands and the full game. We don't think that PK2 will arrive before 2008/9 because it will use the new PainEngine2.

The release from Overdose is slated for release in the 4th quarter of 2007. So we have a lot of time to put money aside! Today or tomorrow we will discuss the source, so stay tuned!"

Dreamcatcher site gone?
Friday, 06 July 2007

It's 11.45 PM Thursday here in California, and the Dreamcatcher site seems to be missing. Google links to Dreamcatcher go to a generic hosting site ad, and Painkillergame.com gives the 'could not connect to the remote server' error message. Google links to the official Painkiller forum fail also, as do my own bookmarks.

-UPDATE - Dark's Corner News has learned that the domain is still registered to Dreamcatcher through the end of September.

-2. Update - Now (15:16 - MESZ) Dreamcatcher and Painkiller are online again!
